Northing
Pilot batch — late 2026

Centimeter GPS.
Your phone is the display.

Northing is an open RTK GNSS receiver: $799 with a full year of corrections included. Pair it over Bluetooth and get centimeter-level position in any app — no dealer, no proprietary display, no lock-in.

How it works

Three pieces. No black boxes.

The receiver

A multi-band GNSS receiver that mounts where you need position truth. Bluetooth to your phone, signed over-the-air firmware updates, and a browser-based recovery flasher — no special cables, no dealer visit.

Your phone

The phone relays a correction stream to the receiver over Bluetooth — a trickle of data, ~1 kbps — and displays position from it. No cellular modem in the receiver means no second data plan.

Corrections

RTK-grade corrections are included for your first year, then renew at a flat $299/yr — same price every year, reminder email before every renewal, cancel anytime.

Coverage & accuracy

Two services in every receiver.

Northing RTK — centimeter zones, subscription (first year included) Northing Global — free built-in mode, works everywhere

Simplified map, current as of August 2026. Zone edges are approximate — we confirm your exact location at checkout.

Northing RTK

±2.5 cm

repeatable accuracy — fixed in seconds, re-fixed in 1–2 s after obstructions

  • The orange zones above; your location checked at checkout
  • Included for year one, then a flat $299/yr
  • For continuous moving work: guidance passes, coverage mapping, stakeout

Northing Global

10–20 cm

class accuracy once converged — settling takes minutes, not seconds

  • Everywhere on Earth — no zones, no account, no data plan
  • Free, forever, built into every receiver
  • For static work and rough guidance: mark a point, check a boundary, find a stake

Numbers come from logged dual-receiver field sessions, not a brochure — the method and the fine print are in RTK vs PPP.

Map

Mapping & drones

Ground control and check points for mapping workflows, with raw logging for post-processing on the roadmap.

Questions

The fine print, in plain English.

What happens if I cancel the subscription?

The receiver keeps working — it never bricks and there's no lock-in. It falls back to Northing Global, the free positioning mode built into every receiver, which works anywhere on Earth with no subscription: accuracy is 10–20 cm and takes minutes to settle after power-on — fine for rough guidance, not for repeatable centimeter work. Resubscribe anytime and RTK is back in seconds. The difference between the two modes is explained in our RTK vs PPP guide.

Where does RTK coverage reach?

Contiguous US & Canada, most of Europe, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Brazil, and parts of Australia — with a map and the gaps spelled out in the coverage guide. We check your location at checkout: if RTK doesn't cover you, we'll tell you before you pay, not after.

Will I get surprise charges?

No. The renewal is a flat $299 for 12 months — no per-hour metering, no tiers to outgrow — and we email you before every renewal. Heavy commercial use (thousands of connected hours a year) has a fair-use ceiling stated plainly in the terms. Charges are billed by Oran Dynamics, the company behind Northing — that's the name you'll see on your statement.

Does my phone need a data connection in the field?

Yes — corrections ride your phone's connection at about 1 kbps, a trickle even on one bar. Short dead spots are a non-event: in our dropout testing the receiver held centimeter accuracy for about a minute unaided and re-fixed within 24 seconds of the stream returning.
